Welcome to Waverley Primary School

Waverley Primary School is a Full Primary School catering for the needs of new entrant to year eight learners.  The school has a rich history and is the heart of our wonderful township.  Waverley Primary School opened in 1873.  We have a growing school roll and dedicated staff who pride themselves in building positive relationships with our tamariki and their whānau.

A Message from the Principal

It is with great pride that I step into the role of Principal in 2026, having previously served our school community as Deputy Principal. I feel privileged to lead such a thriving school and to continue working alongside our dedicated staff, supportive whānau and wonderful learners.

Our school is a place where high-quality and meaningful learning programmes are at the heart of everything we do. Our committed staff work collaboratively to ensure learning experiences are engaging and inclusive, catering to the diverse needs of all students so every child is supported to achieve their personal best.

I strongly believe in a relationship-based approach to learning. Positive relationships — between students, staff, and whānau — are the key to success. When learners feel safe, valued and connected, they are empowered to take risks, grow in confidence and reach their potential.

Our goal is to develop capable, confident learners who are equipped with the skills and values they need to THRIVE in tomorrow’s world. Together, we will continue to build a school culture that celebrates learning, wellbeing and a strong sense of belonging.
